Monrovia, Liberia, May 9, 2025 – The historic True Whig Party (TWP) announces plans to go to national convention in October to elect new corps of officers, who will steer the Party into 2029 presidential and legislative elections.
Reverend Aldophus Capehart, a senior member of the TWP’s National Executive Committee, revealed during a press conference on Thursday that a formal communication has been written the National Elections Commission (NEC), notifying the Commission the Party’s intent to hold convention this year.
According to Reverend Capehart, the convention is scheduled for October 30, 2025, and will be organized by a committee chaired by Seton Sackor.
Reaffirming the TWP’s support for the Unity Party Alliance and its flagship ARREST Agenda, Rev. Capehart commended the current government for progress made in national development and maintaining peace in Liberia.
At the same time he confirmed that a recent resolution removing Reginald B. Goodrich as National Chairman of the TWP remains in effect, and warned the public to desist from doing business with him, in the name of the Party.
Reverend Capehart added that this decision has also been formally communicated to the NEC.
He said the TWP has a blueprint for Liberia’s reconstruction, declaring, “The elephant has woken up in the forest.” Editing by Jonathan Browne
