Rotary District Governor visits Bong

-Showcases Local Impact of Global Service.

Gbarnga, Bong County – May 21, 2025:  In a significant show of unity and commitment to service, the Rotary Club of Sinkor (RCS) and the Rotary Club of Gbarnga (RCG) jointly welcomed District Governor Paulin Salambere of Rotary District 9101 to Liberia on May 21, 2025.

Governor Salambere, who hails from Burkina Faso, is on an official tour to observe and highlight Rotary’s developmental efforts across West Africa.

His visit to Gbarnga, the heart of Bong County, placed the spotlight on a series of impactful community-based projects carried out under the banner of Rotary International’s humanitarian mission.

The occasion marks a pivotal moment for local Rotary clubs, showcasing their dedication to transforming lives and strengthening community ties through sustainable initiatives.

Highlighting Rotary’s Impact in Bong County.

District Governor Salambere’s itinerary included tours of key project sites and engagements with local leaders, club members, beneficiaries, and stakeholders.

The projects showcased span a wide range of focus areas including education, healthcare, clean water access, and youth empowerment.

“These efforts reflect the true spirit of Rotary — service above self,” Governor Salambere noted during a joint meeting with RCS and RCG members. “What I have witnessed in Bong County is evidence of the passion and commitment of Liberian Rotarians to uplift their communities.”

Among the highlighted projects are:

The Rehabilitation of School Facilities – Providing safe and conducive learning environments for children in underserved areas.

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Initiatives – Including borehole drilling and latrine construction to improve public health outcomes.

Medical Outreach Programs – Bringing much-needed health services and supplies to rural populations.

Vocational Training Support – Empowering youth and women with marketable skills for economic independence.

Rotary Clubs Unite for a Common Purpose.

The collaboration between the Rotary Club of Sinkor and the Rotary Club of Gbarnga for this high-profile visit demonstrates a strong bond among Liberian Rotarians and their alignment with the broader vision of Rotary District 9101, which encompasses 14 West African countries.

Rotarian Rupert Surian, President of the Rotary Club of Gbarnga, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s visit. “It is an honor to host DG Salambere. His presence inspires us to do more and reminds us of the global support network backing our local efforts.”

A Vision for Sustainable Development

Governor Salambere emphasized that his tour is not only to monitor progress but also to encourage clubs to adopt scalable and sustainable solutions to pressing community needs. He encouraged greater partnership with local government and civil society to deepen impact.

The visit concludes with a fellowship dinner celebrating the achievements of both Rotary Clubs and reinforcing the Rotary spirit of camaraderie and service.

As the sun set over Gbarnga, Rotarians stood united — not just in celebration of past accomplishments but in renewed determination to build a better future, one community at a time.
