Rep. Wiah wants Vahun Town become city

Lofa County District #2 Rep. Julie F. Wiah has submitted a bill to the House of Representatives, calling for Vahnu Town to become a city.

Rep. Wiah says there is a need to bring Vahun Town to a city status based on the past and current development that is relevantly affecting the area and people.

She notes that the town has a high school, magisterial court, health center, administrative building, police station, market hall and a vocational school under construction.

According to her, the bill when passed shall comprise the area formerly known as the town of Vahun within the district of Vahun and other areas surrounding.

She says the city embraces the area commencing from the city center extending and consisting of eight mile radius to the north, south, east and west of the city of Vahun.

Rep. Wiah indicates that the city of Vahun shall have full power and authority to make and fulfill contacts, take and hold real personal estate to the value of four million dollars and levy such taxes as may be necessary for city purpose.

She says it shall pass all necessary municipal laws and ordinances and perform all other necessary acts not incompatible with the general laws of this Republic.
