Margibi-Liberia, March 13, 2025: Police in Margibi County have arrested three people allegedly involved in drug dealing in the city of Kakata, Margibi County, but the suspects accused the Police of stealing from them about 120,000 Liberian Dollars while effecting the arrest.

The suspects include a 22-year-old pregnant woman, Anita Jallah, 40-year-old Nuwah Tokpah, and 25-year-old John Sumo, all of Kakata.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) for Margibi County, Patrick B. Kormazu, reveals to The NEW DAWN that the arrest was made in Lango Town Community, Kakata.

Lango Town Community is noted as a hot spot for drug dealing in Kakata.

ASP Patrick says police received a tip-off and requested a search and seizure warrant from the Kakata Magisterial Court to carry out the inspection.

He explains that upon receiving the warrant, the police, along with a sheriff from the court, went to the home of the suspects, thereby arresting them with assorted narcotic substances and cash.

The substances allegedly caught in the possession of the suspects include 120 pcs of kush, one dispenser plastic, 170 pcs of Tramadol, 37 pcs (tie) of heroin, and 71 pcs of Cocaine as well as one tablet (iPod), two drug scales, and 28,490 Liberian Dollars.

However, the suspects have been turned over to the Kakata Magisterial Court for onward transfer to the Margibi Detachment of the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) for further investigation.

In a related development, the suspects, who denied everything levied against them by the police, also seriously agitated up to the time they were taken away from the Kakata Police that money in separate amounts was taken away from them by the police.

They say the police also reported over 120,000 Liberian Dollars allegedly stolen from their businesses during the arrest.

Anita Jallah claimed to have been taken to the police station because, according to her, the police said she was in the vicinity of the arrest.

She says the police allegedly took her market money, totaling 52,000 Liberian Dollars, which she had in a black plastic bag, while Suspect Nowah Tokpah too laments that her business money totaling 68,000 Liberian Dollars intended to order new goods was taken from her.

Anita says she sells shoes and slippers, while Nowah is a bartender at Kaymah Cole’s Entertainment Center.

John Sumo, who claims to be an LDEA Informant, also says the police took the said amounts from the suspects, but the police denied the allegations. Editing by Jonathan Browne
