Monrovia, Liberia; October 1, 2025 – The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has commenced Revenue Budget Hearing for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Budget Preparation process.
The hearing followed weeks of Expenditure Hearings, which allowed government ministries and agencies to defend spending plans for the upcoming fiscal year.
At the opening, Acting Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Anthony G. Myers, explained that the hearings are an annual exercise designed to assess how resources can be mobilized to finance government’s expenditures.
He noted that the process provides an opportunity for revenue-generating entities to present their projections, outline challenges they may encounter, and share strategies for meeting their targets.
Minister Myers emphasized that the hearings serve as a critical platform in shaping a realistic and credible national budget.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring an open and participatory budget process, stressing that the collective contributions of revenue-generating agencies are essential to financing Liberia’s development priorities in FY 2026.
Several key revenue-generating entities were in attendance to present and defend their projections, including the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), the National Fisheries Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA), and the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), among others.
Each entity outlined its revenue outlook, highlighting both opportunities and challenges in achieving its targets.
The Revenue Hearing represents a crucial stage in the budget preparation process, providing both technical and policy guidance for formulation of a balanced budget aligned with the government’s medium-term development agenda.
The process also strengthens institutional collaboration, promotes transparency, and enhances public confidence in the national budgeting system. Multi-stakeholder dialogue commits to advancing Liberia’s FP2030 goals. Editing by Jonathan Browne
