Lonestar Cell MTN provides safety gears for motorcycle and tricycle riders

Monrovia, Liberia, February 27, 2025 – Liberia’s leading mobile GSM company, Lonestar Cell MTN in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Liberia National Police and the National Federation of Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Liberia takes a significant step towards enhancing roads safety and financial inclusion for commercial motorcyclists and tricyclists across the country.

MTN distributes reflective safety vests and parasol umbrellas to empower these transport operators and is launching an exciting new Momo promotion tailored specifically for them.

In a release, the GSM company says the newly-launched initiative underscores MTN Liberia’s commitment to improving welfare of cyclists, as the promotion is designed to incentivize motorcyclists and tricyclists to use its MoMo services hence, management will reward 100 motorcycle riders and 50 tricycle riders three (3) gallons of gasoline promotion, tailored specifically for them.

Acting General Manager of MTN, Abubakari Halidu, says this is meant to empower Liberia’s transport operators.

“MTN Liberia remains committed to providing opportunity to benefit from our weekly gasoline rewards. At MTN, we are committed to ensuring the reflective vests and umbrellas will greatly enhance visibility and comfort for our digital payments within the sector,” he says.

The distribution of safety gear, coupled with the MoMo promotion, represents a holistic safety vision of improving transport services and road safety in Liberia.

A representative from the Ministry of Transport lauds the initiative and reaffirms the government’s support for innovative solutions that enhance transportation efficiency and drive financial inclusion by ensuring that everyone has access to seamless, reliable safety gear, which plays a crucial role in Liberia’s transport ecosystem.

“We commend MTN Liberia for this remarkable initiative, which aligns with our broader transport sector goal of collaborating with stakeholders to enhance economic opportunities and digitalization”, he adds.

He says this initiative is about empowering hardworking motorcyclists and tricyclists. The MoMo promotion will encourage greater adaptation, as they will not only enjoy the convenience of a secure cashless system but also gain Mobile Money. He emphasizes the importance of digital financial services in bringing about transformation across all sectors.

 At the same time, Lonestar Cell MTN has officially launched its Recharge & Bumpay Season Two, “The Money Season,” ahead of a public launch.

MTN held its internal draws here to ensure that staff also benefit from motorcycles, smartphones, and other exciting prizes.

The company says via a press release that the promotions are carried out in a fair and transparent manner.

This initiative underscores MTN’s commitment to integrity, running exclusive staff promotions before extending to the public.

In the previous Recharge & Bumpay, MTN transformed a Liberian’s life by awarding a grand prize of a two-bedroom house.
