Speaking Tuesday on Radio VERITAS’ Topical Issues, Mr. Kreplah said the President’s claim was far from reality.
Delivering her Annual Message Monday before the Liberian Legislature, President Sirleaf also said, a project to provide safe drinking water to six counties was disrupted because of the Ebola outbreak. She however assured that it will be resumed soon.
But Minister Kreplah has recommended that Government allocates money from the County Development Fund to provide safe drinking pipe borne water to the citizenry.
He said Government should put in place a technical guideline to get pipe and pumps running into communities. “If hundreds of person in Liberia do not get the amount of water they need to drink, this would cause these people to get sick”, he cautioned.
He stressed that President Sirleaf should be practical on her utterances by executing what she says she would do.
He said water and sanitation has always been supported by international partners and not the Government of Liberia, but still there is no improvement in the sector. “Since four years (4), the water and sanitation group has met with the Legislature and the President of Liberia to talk about sanitation but nothing has been done since then”, he explained.
