The Management of Royal Communications Incorporated, owner of King’s and City (FM) radio stations has dismissed allegation of armed robbery linking one of its employees, Darlington Pelenah.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Monrovia by Station Manager Alexander Bealded, the institution said it will not condone any attitude of felony on the part of any staff and does not support the situation.

Bealded however stressed the need to protect rights of the Journalist irrespective of which entity he comes from, including the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), which the accused is a member.

At the same time, the station has blamed the police for sending out a signal that something ominous is ongoing and that jumping early conclusion will only set the pace for a more divide which they don’t want to start.

Police arrested Pelenah and two others early this week following an armed robbery incident on the General Service Agency (GSA) road, which occurred July 25, the eve of Liberia’s 165th Independence celebration in the district of Paynesville.

As a result of the incident, one person is reported to have been hospitalized at the John F. Kennedy Hospital, having reportedly been shot. Until his arrest and subsequent detention, Darlington Pelenah, serves as Director of News at the Royal Communications, Incorporated.

He once served on the slot of the defunct rebel movement, Liberia Peace Council (LPC) as Deputy Director General for Broadcasting at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) in 1996. He was once a reporter with the disbanded Liberty Radio Station, which was setup by the rebel Liberia Peace Council.

Meanwhile, police spokesman George Bardue told this paper last night the accused journalist was still in detention undergoing interrogation at the National Police Headquarters. He was expected to have appeared at the Monrovia City Court Tuesday.
