Father Demands Justice in Daughter’s Death

The father of the late Korpo Kamara, Mr. Morris K. Heimah says government’s inability to dispense justice in the death cases of several persons, including his daughter in Zorzor District, Lofa County, is worrisome and does not mean well for the common people.

Speaking with the Liberia News Agency in tears on the mysterious death of several children in the county, including his daughter Korpo Kamara, Mr. Heimah stressed the need to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He emphasized that individuals previously arrested in connection with the death of the children should be re-arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. He said while these people are seen loitering around in the district, citizens in the area will continue to panic.

Mr. Heimah said the death of those children especially his daughter, has created fear among his family, including his wife and seven children, forcing them to flee the district to Monrovia. He said since their arrival in Monrovia, life has become difficult for them and his seven children were now out of school due to lack of money.

Mr. Heimah is calling on government and human rights organizations to urgently intervene in the death of the children in Lofa County to ensure transparent justice.

On February 26, 2010, the body of Korpo Kamara was discovered near a Mosque in Konia, Zorzor District, with parts reportedly missing. Her mysterious death subsequently led to violent protest in Voinjama, which caused the death of several citizens, leaving others wounded with properties destroyed.

In a related development, Mr. Heimah has commended President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for taking good care of his granddaughter Korto Kamara after the death of his daughter.
