Rep. Nagbe Sloh on bended knees

Sinoe County Electoral District #2 Representative Jay Nagbe Sloh has gone on bended knees, pleading with his colleagues in the House for his recent statement on a local radio station against the decision of plenary regarding the ratification of the Eton pre-financing road loan.

It all started on Monday afternoon, June 11, when Representative Sloh appeared on a live talk show to discuss the passage of the Eton loan, claiming that he did not vote in favor of the ratification as well as accusing the House of Representatives of not operating with rules. But record available to this paper shows that Representative Sloh joyously voted for the ratification of the agreement, contrary to his assertion in public.

According to him, the House of Representatives is operating without rules. But in February this year, members of the House drafted and adopted their rules which have been in full swing since the commencement of the 54th Liberian Legislature.

The nightmare of Representative Sloh came Tuesday, June 12, during regular sitting of members of the House of Representatives, when Montserrado County Electoral District #8 Representative Acarous Moses Gray complained that the lawmaker’s statement has the propensity to bring the body to public disrepute and undermine good intention its members have for the country.

Due to the complaint, Speaker Bhofal Chambers sought intervention of plenary that the matter be discussed behind doors. At an executive session, information gathered by this paper indicates Representative Gray blasted Sloh for his action, terming it as un-legislative.

An inside source said the position of Gray was hugely supported by many of his colleagues, leaving Sloh with no alternative but to get on knees to beg for mercy with a promise that such behavior would never be repeated.
