An ex-fighter of the defunct Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia (INPFL) rebels has threatened to physically assault the Business Manager of the New Dawn Newspaper John T. Manjoe. George Kalondo, now a businessman, issued the threat Thursday when this paper requested payment for debts owed by his business establishment.

When contacted via mobile phone on the issue, the Sierra Leonean naturalized Liberian aborted the call after our reporter introduced himself. He subsequently texted the reporter that he was in a meeting. New Dawn Business Manager John Manjoe narrated that he had contacted Kalondo to remind him of owing the paper US$250.00 since November, this year.

But Kalondo, who boasted of being a “lawyer”, told Manjoe he owes other businesses over US$800,000.00, but those institutions do not embarrass him about their debts, promising that the New Dawn should wait as he will pay at a convenient time.

Not satisfied with the response, Manjoe then informed him that the New Dawn would shortly publish names of individuals and institutions indebted to the company and are delaying or unable to pay.

In reply, the rather arrogant George Kalondo retorted: “Don’t you know I’m a lawyer? Publish my name and I will disgrace you; I will cuff you if I see my name in the paper.” Mr. Manjoe then hung up the line and discussed the situation with colleagues at his office.

Notwithstanding, Kalondo remains indebted to the New Dawn in the sum of US$250.00 for advertisements published by the paper in November 2012, insisting that he would pay at his convenience.
