The Indigenous Must Take Over

A Margibi County Representative has admonished Liberians to vote a People’s Unification Party (PUP)- led administration in 2017 if Liberia must graduate to the right development trajectory.

Electoral District #5 Representative Emmanuel Nuquoi told a gathering of students recently at the Cuttington University in Suakoko, Bong County that the time has come for indigenous Liberians to take over their country, further indicating that he saw nothing wrong with the Kpelle people of Liberia forming a political party when others like the Liberty Party has its roots from Grand Bassa and the National Union for Democratic Progress (NUDP) from Nimba.

The Former Chairman of the Ways, Means, Finance and Budget Committee of the House of Representatives urged those referring to the PUP as Kpelle People party to follow the histories of other political parties, including their origins before making what he called unfounded statements.
He noted that such attribution was meant to divert the ideas of the Kpelle-speaking people of Liberia.

He emphasized that politics is about numbers, and that those in the majority like the Kpelle Tribe, must make the decision this time, noting that for too long the minority has always been the decision makers. By Papa Morris from Bong County - Edited by George Barpeen
