Lonestar Cell Takes Mobile Money to New Kru Town

Lonestar Cell MTN has launched a three-day soccer tournament in Borough of New Kru Town on Bushrod Island, bringing together over six communities. The tournament is aimed at creating awareness among residents about Lonestar Cell Mobile Money.

More than eight teams participated in the games, with 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners awarded prestigious awards, including a beauty trophy. Prizes were given to residents, who registered on the days of the tournament as an encouragement for using the service.

Meanwhile, residents of New Kru Town have welcomed the Mobile Money service of Lonestar Cell MTN as hundreds of residents queued to register for the service over the weekend.

In an interview with journalists, they whole heartedly welcomed the service in their area, and added that many of them were ignorant of the Mobile Money, but with the sensitization being carried out by the company, they will now make good use of the opportunity.

An official of Lonestar Cell MTN Mobile Money section Morris Teah, said the company is using sports to disseminate the importance of the service because sports unite people from different sectors of life. Morris explained that the Mobile Money service can be used to recharge phones without getting out to agents in the fields.

He noted that if everyone would use the mobile money service, the electronic recharge of phones will be used frequently than buying scratch cards in the streets. Morris said the program will be taken to other parts of Monrovia to ensure that Liberians take advantage of the service.

He disclosed that the awareness process has been also introduced in various schools through the Lonestar Cell MTN ‘Can Do’ social clubs.
