60-Yr-oldman Charged With Rape

Police in Bomi County have charged a 60-year-oldman with statutory rape. Suspect Abullai Cooper was charged for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl in Yomo town, Klay District in Bomi.

The Liberia News Agency correspondent in Bomi County quotes the police charge sheet as saying suspect Cooper took the girl in his bed room and allegedly raped her, but was reportedly caught in the act by the girl’s parents.

Police said the act violates section 14.70 of the Liberian panel code of law and 6.11 of the new rape law. Meanwhile, suspect Cooper has been detained at the Tubmanburg prison center, awaiting court trial.
