Fears Of White Balloting Looms Over LFA Congress

Fears of white balloting is looming ahead of the upcoming Liberia's Football Association (LFA) March 20, 2010 congress, amidst reports that there is a low key approach to the entire congress amongst sports authorities.

Already, there is a feeling of apathy on the part of some old faces at the helm of football here to contest the elections. The New Dawn has unearthed that more applicants are yet to send in applications ahead of that body's general congress.

Speaking to this paper in an exclusive interview, the Secretary General of the local football house, Mr. Sam Bedford said; “I fear the word white ballot being used since there is still much time for more applicants to express interest for positions in the up-coming congress,” he said.

The Chief Scribe of the FA also said FA officials are presently gathering documents, which according to him should pave the way for the slated March 20, 2010 congress.

He told this paper that the LFA Executive Committee will tomorrow Thursday meet to decide the congress venue.  He said at the moment they have only two applications for the position of Vice President for Administration and one each for the President and Vice President for Operations.

The LFA SG stated that so far those would have declared their intention include Musa Bility, President of the Watanga Football Club and CEO of both Renaissance Communications and Srimex who has expressed his willingness to contest for the Presidency, while Mr. Pennoh Bestman who is the current Vice President for Operations at the FA and senior staff member of the Roberts International Airport will compete for the position of Vice President for Administration.

Also to contest for the position of Vice President for Administration is Musa Shannon, former player of the Senior National Soccer squad and son of Lands, Mines and Energy Minister Eugene Shannoh.

Mr. Adolph Lawrence, a senior staff member of the Srimex and Current Vice President for Operations at the LFA is said to be vying for the position of Vice President for Operations in the coming congress.
